Current Recruitment Status

Recruitment exercises are conducted periodically as authorised by the Inspector General of Police and the Ministry of Interior. Announcements are made through official GPF channels, national newspapers, radio, and this website. Beware of fraudulent recruitment offers — the GPF does not charge any fees for recruitment.

General Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Gambian citizen by birth or naturalisation
  • Minimum age of 18 years and not exceeding 25 years at time of application
  • Minimum of 5 passes at WASSCE/GBCE including English Language and Mathematics
  • Minimum height: Males — 5 feet 7 inches | Females — 5 feet 4 inches
  • Medically fit and free from any physical or mental disability
  • Must not have any criminal convictions
  • Must be of good character with references from two responsible community members

Required Documents

  • Completed application form (available at GPF Headquarters and regional police stations)
  • Original and photocopy of Birth Certificate
  • Original and photocopy of academic certificates
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs
  • Medical certificate from a recognised government health facility
  • Character reference letters from two responsible persons
  • National ID Card or valid travel document

Recruitment Process

  • Step 1: Submission of completed application form with all required documents
  • Step 2: Screening and shortlisting of eligible candidates
  • Step 3: Physical fitness and medical examination
  • Step 4: Written aptitude test
  • Step 5: Oral interview before a selection board
  • Step 6: Background and character vetting
  • Step 7: Enrolment and basic training at the Police Training School
