About Driver Testing
The Gambia Police Force Traffic Department is responsible for conducting driver testing and issuing driving licences in The Gambia. All applicants must meet the required standards of knowledge, skill, and physical fitness to obtain a licence.
Licence Categories
Class A
Motorcycles and scooters
Class B
Private motor vehicles up to 3,500 kg
Class C
Heavy goods vehicles and trucks
Class D
Passenger buses and minibuses
How to Apply
- Visit the Traffic Department headquarters or your nearest regional traffic office
- Complete the application form and provide required documents (National ID, passport photos)
- Pass the written theory test on road traffic laws and signs
- Pass the practical driving examination conducted by a GPF examiner
- Pay the prescribed licensing fee at the designated collection point
- Collect your driving licence upon successful completion
Licence Renewal
Driving licences in The Gambia must be renewed every three (3) years. Holders are advised to renew before expiry to avoid penalties. For licence queries, call: 7730230
