Community Policing
Building Safer Communities Together
What is Community Policing?
Community policing is a philosophy and strategy that promotes proactive partnerships between the Gambia Police Force and the communities we serve. It is built on the principle that effective policing requires the active involvement of citizens, community leaders, and other stakeholders in identifying and solving crime and disorder problems.
Our Approach
Community Liaison Officers
Dedicated officers assigned to work directly with community members, village heads, and area councils to address local security needs and build trust.
Neighbourhood Watch Programmes
Structured programmes that empower residents to report suspicious activities and work cooperatively with police to prevent crime in their neighbourhoods.
Police-Community Dialogues
Regular town hall meetings and community forums held by GPF officers to discuss security concerns, receive feedback, and strengthen relationships.
School Safety Programmes
Officers engage with schools to promote safety awareness, prevent drug abuse, and educate young people on their rights and responsibilities.
