The Inspector General of Police is the head of the Gambia Police Force, responsible for the command, superintendence, and administration of the Force under the authority of the Minister of Interior.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police assists the IGP in the command and administration of the Force, and assumes command in the absence of the Inspector General.

The Commissioner of Police (Operations) oversees day-to-day policing operations, coordinating between divisions, regions, and specialised units to ensure effective service delivery.
