GPF JOINS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION IN KEREWAN, NBR

The Gambia Police Force, alongside other sister security services, participated in the International Women’s Day celebration held in Kerewan, North Bank Region, on Saturday, April 25, 2026. The event was observed under the theme “Rights, Justice and Action for All Women and Girls.”

The celebration attracted a distinguished gathering of dignitaries, including Her Excellency the First Lady, Madam Fatoumatta Bah Barrow; the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, Honourable Fatou Kinteh; the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Honourable Dr. Habibatou Drammeh; Assistant Inspector General of Police Amie Nyassi; as well as representatives from other sister security services, government officials, the Governor of the North Bank Region, Commissioners, and Alkalos.

The occasion was organised to acknowledge and celebrate the invaluable contributions of women to national development, while advancing the agenda of gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the protection of women’s rights nationwide. It further served as an opportunity to highlight the achievements of women across different sectors and to reinforce the Government’s commitment to inclusivity and social welfare.

The event culminated in a vibrant march past featuring women from the sister security services, communities, and various institutions, symbolising unity, resilience, and collective commitment to the advancement of women’s rights.

The Gambia Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to promoting equal opportunities, empowering women, and supporting initiatives that enhance their welfare and active involvement in national development.
